Service Description

Immerse yourself in a hands-on, authentic, cultural experience and take home your own special piece of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Rain, hail or shine, we will show you the craftsmanship that goes into producing a taonga/treasure made from NZ's most prized stone - the pounamu. Our approximately 2-hour workshop (length varies) starts with learning about pounamu and its meanings. You will then choose a piece of pounamu that calls your name, and plan what you would like to carve with it. From there you will move into the machine room and under guidance start grinding it down. The journey finishes with Dremel work, polishing and cording. There is nothing like putting your own energy into a special piece for yourself or a special handmade gift.
